Project Manager, Communication and Public Engagement
Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute
Maternity cover contract for 12 months. Salary from £32,500.
The Project Manager leads an interdisciplinary team of education, design/animation, and web development professionals to develop and deliver
a diverse portfolio of public engagement projects about contemporary genetic research and issues. The Project Manager will coordinate the development process - including expert input, audience consultation and evaluation - and budget for multiple public engagement projects.
You should be a dynamic science communicator with experience in managing a range of public engagement projects from initiation to evaluation. You will have a science and science communication/education qualifications,
and will have demonstrated your enthusiasm for and ability to engage audiences with complex scientific concepts and issues through a range of
media.

Education Officer
Thinktank Birmingham science museum
Full time, permanent member of the Education Team. They will be responsible for the development and delivery of a wide range of education programmes for formal education audiences both within Thinktank and off-site, maintaining the current high standard of provision through review and evaluation. He/she will develop resources for use by groups both within the museum, off-site and on-line; will take joint responsibility with the other education officers for the management of freelance staff; and individually will manage delegated budgets for specific projects.
You will:
• Have had previous experience in an education role within a museum or science centre
• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject
• Excellent teaching skills and the ability to communicate to a wide variety of the general public across the age ranges
• Strong expertise in Science
• Good working knowledge of the National Curriculum and current government initiatives in science learning

Technician – Exhibit Design/Build
INTECH - Family Science centre and Planetarium
We are looking for a self motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our small exhibit build team. You will develop design ideas for interactive exhibits and then assemble and finish these exhibits to a high standard following the specified design brief and style.
Practical experience of engineering machinery is essential, including lathes, milling machines, as well as wood working skills. You should have a creative and innovative approach. The ideal candidate may have experience of a hands-on museum environment but this is not a requirement.
Experience of mechanical movement and transfer, process control, PIC programming, electronic circuitry and electrical wiring would also be an advantage, as would basic hardware and software IT skills.
A flexible approach will be required with occasional out of hours and weekend work with time off in lieu.
Salary would be based on skills and experience
